Adopting a policy
Generated policies start as drafts. Adoption is the formal step where you confirm a policy is ready to be your organisation's current document. Once adopted, the policy counts toward your governance score and its status changes to "Current".
Open a draft policy from the governance register. Review the content and add any custom sections. When satisfied, click "Adopt" to make it current. The policy is timestamped with who adopted it and when.
Adoption is an intentional act — it proves someone reviewed the policy before it became active. This separation between generation and adoption demonstrates governance rigour.
Adopted policies show a "Current" badge. Their review date is set automatically. When a review is due, you can revise the policy to create a new draft from the current version.
